Gdansk Shipyard, 2006-08
This extensive body of images was taken in the final moments of the Gdansk Shipyard – the birthplace of Solidarity – as a major shipbuilder in Poland before its land was partitioned and designated for redevelopment. In 1980s, the shipyard was the site of strikes that eventually led to the change of the political system in Poland and beyond.
The images were taken using a medium format analogue camera and Kodak Portra 400 and Kodak Portra 800 colour negative films.
The series is accompanied by an artist film under the same title.
