Drowning is a literary novel, currently in progress, telling the story of Nel, an Arabic translator, and her mother Gaia, a mathematician and cold water swimmer, who unexpectedly drowns in the Baltic sea.

What happens when one’s body is a contested territory? How does one live in spaces in-between, spaces with layers of conflicting history?
